I am a full stack web developer, specializing in sustainable development for individuals or small businesses. In addition to WordPress, I can also set up and administer other existing open source and proprietary software systems like Rocket Chat, Discourse, or Mastodon. If you need services other than is what is listed on this page, contact me to discuss your project requirements.
I use several languages/technologies to build websites for my clients:
WordPress is one of the most popular content management and blog platforms in the world. It allows you to easily create and manage a website and provides a practically endless number of plugins and themes for extra functionality.
WordPress projects can take anywhere from 10 to 30 hours of work depending on the client's needs, with smaller sites for individuals on the lower end and organizations at the higher end. WordPress works great with our shared hosting plan.
Rocket.Chat is an open-source messaging app built with Meteor. It supports video conferencing, file sharing, voice messages, has a fully-featured API, and more. Rocket Chat is great for those who prefer to have full control over their communications.
Rocket Chat server setup is anywhere from 10-15 hours of work. A Rocket Chat server will require a private virtual server and potentially extra hard drive space. Contact me for details.
Discourse is a popular piece of discussion forum software written in Ruby on Rails. Discourse provides a number of built in improvements over previous generation forum software including mobile support, oAuth authentication options, a user trust system, notifications and many other features.
Discourse server setup is anywhere from 5-10 hours, depending upon client's customization needs. Discourse works great with our shared hosting plan, but it may require a private virtual server for high-traffic applications.
Mastodon is an open source, decentralized and independently-owned social network that you can self-host. Follow friends and discover new ones. Publish anything you want: links, pictures, text, video. All on a platform that is community-owned and ad-free.
Mastodon server setup is anywhere from 10 to 15 hours of work, depending upon client's customization needs. A Mastodon server will require a private virtual server and extra hard drive space. Contact me for details.
Ghost is a fully open source, adaptable platform for building and running a modern online publication. It powers blogs, magazines and journalists from Zappos to Sky News.
Ghost projects can take anywhere from 5 to 15 hours to set up, depend upon client's customization needs, with the largest amount of time spent customizing the site layout. Ghost works great with our shared hosting plan, but may require a private virtual server for high traffic applications.
Nextcloud is a suite of client-server software for creating and using file hosting services. It is functionally similar to Dropbox or Google Drive, although Nextcloud is free and open-source, allowing anyone to install and operate it on a private server.
Nextcloud server setup is anywhere from 10-15 hours of work. A Nextcloud server will require a private virtual server and extra hard drive space. Contact me for details.
